How to Draw A Cartoon Vulture. There are so many different species of birds in nature! Some are big, some small, some colorful, and some more subtle. You also get predator and prey birds, and vultures would fall somewhere in between.
Also, check out our Cat Coloring Pages.
These large, strange-looking birds are scavengers, eating the remains left by predators. They also look weird and interesting, making drawing a cartoon vulture a fun challenge!
We cover this in the tutorial that we have prepared for you. The seven steps here will show you that it can be both easy and fun!
How to Draw A Cartoon Vulture
Step 1
For this first step of our tutorial on how to draw a cartoon vulture, we’ll start with the bird’s beak. This is drawn with lots of curved and rounded lines.
You should follow the reference image here closely, as there are some pretty specific shapes for each beak section.
It also ends in a pointed tip at the beak’s top and bottom. Curved lines also extend from the top, as shown in our example. These form the beginning of the head that we will add in the next few steps.
Step 2
This second step in drawing the cartoon vulture adds more of the head, face, and neck. First, use more curved lines to refine the rounded back of the head.
We will then draw the vulture’s eye. This will be drawn as a round shape with some oval shapes inside.
We’ll also add some small, curved lashes around the eyes. Finally, extend some longer curved lines from the base of the beak down to the bird’s thin neck.
Step 3
At the base of a vulture’s neck is a sort of feathered “collar” that we will draw in this step. We’ll also start drawing the body, but let’s draw this collar first.
The collar is drawn with smaller, rounded lines that connect, as shown in the reference image. Next, use more wavy lines going down the collar for the beginning of the body. That’s all now; then go to step 4!
Step 4
A vulture won’t go far without wings, so let’s add that aspect in this step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon vulture! The wing will have rounded lines for the outline and rows of smaller rounded lines for the feather textures.
We’ll also add more curved lines for the rest of the body and the start of the legs, finishing the legs in the next step!
Step 5
It’s time to finish the rest of the legs for this cartoon vulture design before adding the finishing touches in the next step.
Draw some thin, curved shapes for the vulture’s toes, then add lines across them to create texture. Finally, draw some thinner shapes for the tail feathers, and then we’re ready for step 6!
Step 6
In this step of our tutorial on how to draw a cartoon vulture, we’re not going to draw the bird itself! Instead, we’ll finish it off with the branch it’s sitting on, which sets you up for some coloring fun in the next step.
To draw this branch, we used some slightly wavy lines for the outline and then added some similar wavy lines inside for the texture of the wood.
Once you’ve drawn that branch, you’re ready for some final touches! Designing a wallpaper is always fun as it can take it to the next level.
Step 7
This cartoon vulture design is already awesome, but we’re going to make it look even better with some colors in this final step! In our reference image, you will notice that we have kept the colors more realistic despite the cartoon style of the drawing.
That means we used yellow for the beak, pink for the skin, and then shades of brown for the feathers. These colors are your guide if you want to take a similar approach, but you can also opt for unique colors if you prefer!
This is your chance to take over and show what you can do with your color creativity, so get wild and see what happens! You can even try artistic mediums you don’t normally use to give your colors a unique look.
